I have known Alex for several years and I can genuinely say that she is one of the most talented players I have coached for a long time. Not only does Alex have a serious amount of technical ability and game awareness, but she is also an extremely talented all-round athlete.

About Me

I am a sports scholar at my school, Woldingham and have both UK and US nationality. I love playing and excelling at many sports, including running, long jump, netball, cricket, and of course hockey, which I’ve played since age 8. With my club, I’ve played in the England Hockey Tier 1 national finals, winning 1 national title and 4 silver medals. Whilst training 5x a week, I’ve also achieved all top grades in my GCSEs (9 A*s and 1 A). I’m currently studying Maths, Physics and Geography at A level and aim to achieve the top grades in each of these courses. I’ve spent many summers in California and attended Stanford University hockey camp twice and was excited to be awarded top player in my age group each year and to make new friends, that I still keep in contact with. That experience sparked my dream of playing hockey for a US university whilst pursuing a top-notch education.

INTERVIEW

I’m an extremely versatile player. I’ve played in every position (except goalkeeper but it’s never too late to try!). Because of the insight to every position that I have, I have a great understanding about the game as a whole and simultaneously how each positions links up with another. Technically, I have very good skills and a strong strike, particularly my reverse hit. I am also a true team player, I focus on playing my part in the team and doing all I can do to contribute to the team’s success. I work hard to contribute to the team’s success in every match I play. I also make sure to give 100% to every training and attend with full enthusiasm.

I would like to compete at university because I love playing hockey and want to play at the highest level possible and learn from top coaches, whilst also achieving academically. I also want to train and play at university to meet new people and experience living in a new country. Through hockey I’ve had the opportunity to travel to new countries and I’ve really enjoyed meeting and interacting with players and coaches from different cultures, ages and backgrounds and I’d love to do that in the US whilst playing at college.

To play my best hockey for a top US university hockey team, to score goals and to help the team win matches. To continue to improve in hockey and ultimately play for the US or England national teams. I’d also like to achieve a top university degree, make new friends and accomplish new challenges.
